Groundbreaking, PTPP Works on Restructuring the Sacred Area of Pura Agung Besakih in Bali
PT PP (Persero) Tbk, one of the leading, largest, and leading construction and investment companies in Indonesia (“PTPP”) attended the Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Arrangement of the Besakih Temple, located in Karangasem, Bali. The arrangement of the sacred area was marked by the groundbreaking procession which was held on Wednesday (18/08) at the construction site, Bali. The event was also attended by Megawati Soekarnoputri as Chair of the Steering Committee of the Presidential Working Unit for the Development of Ideology for the Governor of Bali I Wayan Koster, PTPP President Director Novel Arsyad, PTPP Building Operations Director Anton Satyo Hendriatmo, and regional officials. The Groundbreaking Ceremony for the Besakih Temple Area Arrangement was held at the project site by implementing strict Covid-19 health protocols for invited guests who attended and practicing social distancing. Apart from being held offline, the groundbreaking ceremony was also held virtually.
The island of Bali is one of the favorite tourist destinations in Indonesia which has an attraction identical to art, culture, and religion. One of the oldest cultural and worship centers in Bali, namely Pura Besakih, is often a destination for tourists from both domestic and foreign countries. Besakih Temple is a place of worship for Hindus which is the largest temple on the island of Bali, located in Rendang District, Karangasem Regency. Besakih Temple is located approximately 52 kilometers from Denpasar city and can be reached by land for 1.5 hours. The area has a central temple or called Pura Penataran Agung Besakih surrounded by 18 (eighteen) companion temples.
In the construction of this project, PTPP was trusted as the implementing contractor by the Ministry of PUPR to work on the arrangement of the sacred area. The scope of work to be carried out by PTPP, among others: preparation, construction design, implementation of the construction of the Manik Mas Area and Bencingah Area, as well as construction maintenance. This area structuring project will be carried out with an implementation period of 515 (five hundred and fifteen) calendar days with a maintenance period of 360 (three hundred and sixty) calendar days. The structuring of the Besakih Temple area is carried out by increasing the facilities and infrastructure which includes 2 (two) areas, namely the Manik Mas Area, increasing the capacity of the parking lot along with the arrangement of supporting facilities and infrastructure. In addition to these areas, the arrangement of buildings and utilities in the context of protecting the Pura Agung Besakih area will be carried out in the entrance area or the Bencingah Area.
