President Director of PT PP (Persero) Tbk ("PTPP") Novel Arsyad accompanied President Joko Widodo on a working visit to the Semarang-Demak Toll Road Development project located in Sidogemah Village, Sayung District, Demak Regency, Central Java Province, Friday (11/6/2021) . On this occasion, Jokowi received an explanation regarding the progress of the Semarang-Demak Toll Road from the Director General of Highways of the Ministry of PUPR Hedy Rahadian. Hedy explained that the financing for the construction of the Semarang-Demak Toll Road uses the Business Entity Cooperation with the Government (KPBU) scheme.
The toll road with a length of 26.7 km is divided into two sections, namely Section 1 Semarang/Kaligawe-Sayung with a length of 10.39 km which is the government's portion, with a cost of Rp 10.56 trillion. While Section 2 (Sayung-Demak) is 16.31 km long, the portion of the Toll Road Business Entity (BUJT) is PT Pembangunan Perumahan Semarang Demak ("PPSD").
Currently, The 1st Section is still in the auction stage, which is planned for March-August 2021 and construction will begin in January 2022 and is targeted for completion in November 2024. Meanwhile, The 2nd Sectionhas entered the construction stage with a progress of 41.63%. Specifically for Section 2, it is targeted for completion in June 2022. Construction of 2nd Sectionis carried out by PTPP-WIKA Maratama Consortium-Technical Studies (KSO) and Supervision Consultant PT Virama Karya (Persero) with a construction cost of Rp 4.3 trillion.
By the construction of the Semarang-Demak Toll Road, it is hoped that it will become a supporter in increasing connectivity in the northern part of Central Java as well as being a liaison for strategic areas such as ports, airports, industrial areas, and religious tourism areas, especially in the Demak area, Central Java.
